LEGO 70427 Hidden Side Portal

LEGO 70427 hidden side portal

There is a new wave of Hidden side sets coming right after Christmas in 2019.  Six new Hidden side sets are coming, and this one, the Hidden Side Portal is one of the most affordable of the sets, and it comes with a lot of minifigures to play with. What is interesting about this set is that it has 3 ghost figures, and the Jack character is a little bit different than the previous versions, at least according to the images shown on the official LEGO press release.

LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House

Every year I look forward to the new Creator Winter series set that LEGO releases. This year it is LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House. When the fall comes, LEGO releases a lot of new sets, and my regular readers know I focus on the Disney, some Star Wars, and a few other themes, like the Creator series.

Every year for the last 10 years LEGO releases a new set for their Creator Expert Winter Village line. I think I’m missing one, but that might change this year, because I plan on blogging each of the sets as I build them from my saved instructions and parts collection.

Two of my favorites are the Holiday Train, Santa’s Workshop There are a bunch of others that I start to build every year between Halloween and Thanksgiving, so that when the official Holiday season Starts, my LEGO Disneyland has a complete LEGO winter Village.

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House Release Date

The latest edtion in the LEGO Creator Holiday series, the Gingerbread House will be released on September 18 to VIP members, and everyone else will have access on Oct 1. Just in time for the holidays.

LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House Minifigures

I believe, there will be 2 minifigures in this series – a gingerbread man, and a gingerbread woman. I think it will be based off the CMF Series 11 Gingerbread man, but when the set comes out I’ll confirm that.

Of course the minifigures for this set haven’t been released yet, but here are some others you might be interested in. Complete your minifigure collection!

LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House Price and Piece count

It has been confirmed that the LEGO Gingerbread House set for 2019 will have 1,477 pieces and cost $99.99 US. Of all the series LEGO releases, this is one that will sell out, and increase in value over the years. Just go back and try to buy a retired Creator Holiday set and you will know what I’m talking about.

LEGO 10267 Gingerbread House Review

Coming soon! As soon as I have this cute little LEGO set in my hands, I’ll share it with you and update this post.

From the looks of the official photos, there will be a 2 story LEGO gingerbread house of course. Downstairs will have a living room scene with a fire place and a small kitchenette. Upstairs is a bedroom and a bathroom with a tub. Lately there have been a lot more LEGO bathrooms being built – hmmm….

Also included are a little brick built snow blower, a baby stroller for a 1×2 printed gingerbread baby piece, a rocking horse, a microscale train, and an assortment of presents.

LEGO 41168 Elsa’s Jewelry Box

Of all the new Disney LEGO Frozen 2 sets being announced and eventually released, this one, Elsa’s Jewelry Box is my favorite. I don’t have Jewelry, but this set seems to have some great features and also has a lot of great parts that I see myself using in MOCS in my Disney LEGO City.

Tons of Trans Blue pieces, new blue gear parts, and even an ice horse minifig. Also purple bricks. Such a rare color!

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

LEGO 41168 Elsa’s Jewelry Box Release Date

The new series of LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets are scheduled to be released on November 22, according to my sources. This should be right around the time the new movie is also released.

LEGO 41168 Elsa’s Jewelry Box Minifigures

It looks like there is only one minidoll in this set – an Elsa. But there is also a trans blue ice horse – much in the same style as the new Patronus figure from the Harry Potter sets.

Of course the minifigures for this set haven’t been released yet, but here are some others you might be interested in. Complete your minifigure collection!

LEGO 41168 Elsa’s Jewelry Box Price

Unknown at this point. Probably around $39.99 based on the look on the box and all the minifigs, and the 300 piece count.

LEGO 41169 Olaf

Who doesn’t love Olaf – he’s the lovable snowman in the Disney Frozen 2 movie. This isn’t a minifigure though, but a brick built character. Not my favorite in the series, but when there are six new sets, some will be winners, and others will be misses.

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

LEGO 41167 Arendelle Castle

The Arendelle Castle is the largest set in the new LEGO Disney Frozen 2 series of sets. It’s designed for ages 5+ and even comes with a brick separator. I remember when that tool would only come in the most advance LEGO Expert Creator sets. Times have changed.

There is the Castle, a pretzel stand, a wooden boat, a Fish stand, and a lamp post plus three minifigures.

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

The new series of LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets are scheduled to be released on November 22, according to my sources. This should be right around the time the new movie is also released.

LEGO 41167 Arendelle Castle Minifigures

As I said in the intro, there are three minifigures in this set, an Elsa, and two others who I can’t quite identify. One could be Kristoff, but the other is a girl with brown hair and is different from Anna.

Of course the minifigures for this set haven’t been released yet, but here are some others you might be interested in. Complete your minifigure collection!

LEGO 41166 Elsa and the Reindeer Carriage Review

LEGO 41166 Elsa and the Reindeer Carriage

Of all the new LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets, this is one of three that has the Elsa character in it. Plus there is a Sven. You remember Sven, he is Kristoff’s Reindeer. The one with some sass. I’ll talk more about him in the minifigure section below, even though he is a LEGO Reindeer, and not a true minifig.

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

LEGO 41166 Elsa and the Reindeer Carriage Release Date

The new series of LEGO Disney Frozen 2 sets are scheduled to be released on November 22, according to my sources. This should be right around the time the new movie is also released.

LEGO 41166 Elsa and the Reindeer Carriage Minifigures

Like I mentioned above this set has an Anna character. Did you know that she isn’t a Disney Princess? If you have seen the first movie, you know that she WAS a princess, but now is a Queen, so technically she can’t be a Disney princess. But – in the Frozen Movie 2 – the timeline is supposed to be before the first movie, so maybe she will be – who knows?

I also wanted to talk about the Sven character. This is a grey reindeer piece with lighter grey antlers, and fur. Sort of unique, but very cool! Plus it looks like there is another brown baby reindeer – could it be a brother to Sven, or maybe a kid? We will see!

Of course the minifigures for this set haven’t been released yet, but here are some others you might be interested in. Complete your minifigure collection!

Coming soon! As soon as I have this cute little LEGO set in my hands, I’ll share it with you and update this post. But be aware, this is a 4+ set – that line used to be called Juniors – so it will have smaller parts, but be a much easier build than other sets.

LEGO 41165 Anna’s Canoe

This is one of the more simple and affordable sets. There is a cool white canoe (that’s going to end up in my Disney LEGO city at some point) as well as a teeter totter, and some large panel bricks that looks like there are stickers on it. And a blue ice slide that we’ve seen in several Frozen LEGO sets before.

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

LEGO 41165 Anna’s Canoe Minifigures

I looks like there is only 1 minifigures in this set, an Anna character, as well as aon Olaf. But, I’m not sure to count the snowman as a minifig – he has the head and it looks like he has a torso, but I can’t be positive right now. T It also looks like there is a little brown bunny as well.

Of course the minifigures for this set haven’t been released yet, but here are some others you might be interested in. Complete your minifigure collection!

LEGO 41164 Enchanted Tree House

Of all the new sets, his one is perhaps he most interesting to me. It has a new character, one who I can’t quite identify, and it could be a spoiler for the movie. Not 100% sure though.

The Enchanted Tree house Frozen 2 set has 302 pieces and looks to use orange foilage. The tree house has a little platform with an a frame roof, and a lot of accessories. It also looks like there is some kind of zip line to another tree. Plus it looks like it might be near a cemetery based on the tombstones.

When available, I will post the official LEGO set PHOTO here (then change it to my set photo when released).

LEGO 10762 Belle’s Story Time

LEGO 10762 Disney Belle's Story Time

The other day I was double checking my Disney Princess minifigures, and I realized I was missing one. I needed Belle to complete my collection! Not any princess would do. I needed the LEGO Belle Minidoll from the retired set 10762 Belle’s Story Time.

Since I couldn’t find it on the LEGO website anymore, I turned to Amazon, and was able to find a new unopened and sealed set. I clicked the order button and a few days later it was in my mailbox.

LEGO 10762 Belle’s Story Time Release Date

This LEGO Juniors set was released in 2018 and unfortunately is no longer “officially” available, but it is still easy to find on-line if you want a set. It is now Retired. That just means it is still is supported by LEGO (you can get instructions and missing pieces if needed), just not for sale new anymore.

LEGO 10762 Belle's Story Time Box Front
The box for LEGO 10762 Belle’s Story Time. This is a Disney Junior’s set – so it is easier to build than regular sets. Geared for kids as young as 4 years old.

LEGO 10762 Belle’s Story Time Minifigure

There is only one minifigure in this set – Belle. She is actually a Minidoll, and not a minifigure. What’s the difference between a minidoll and a minifigure you ask? Well, let me tell you. Most people are familiar with a minifigure. Both minifigures and minidolls have 4 pieces – a head, a torso, feet, and hair. The main difference is that minidolls are less blocky, a tiny bit taller, and more slender. To me they look more like princesses.

I like to think of minifigures as regular people in my Disney LEGO city, and the minidolls are more like characters. It seems to make it more realistic for me when I do things this way.

Anyway, Belle has a yellow skirt, a yellow torso with some printing. Her arms have white gloves. Her head is one sided (all minidolls have only one face) and her hair is long and brown.

Here are some additional minifigures for sale:

LEGO 10762 Belle’s Story Time Instructions

The set comes with two bags. The first bag builds the belle minifigure and the accessories, and the second bag builds her little castle and the spinning table.

The instruction book that comes with the set is clear, and easy to understand, even for a child as young as 4. There are some small parts, so I wouldn’t let younger kids play with the set for safety reasons.

If you need the instructions for this set, you can download a PDF right from the LEGO website to use on your iPad.

LEGO 10762 Belle’s Story Time Review

Like I mentioned earlier, I purchased this set only for the Belle LEGO character. However, as I was building it, I had an idea to use it in my LEGO Disneyland. I’ll share more about that in a moment.

This set has 87 pieces that come in a small box. There are NO stickers, only printed pieces which include Cogsworth’s face, The Beast in a mirror, A Disneyland Book and printed tile, and a very cool rose printed on a trans window piece that resembles a stained glass window. Plus there is a printed cup with a face, and teapot too. I prefer sets that don’t have any stickers, because once you place a sticker on a brick, it has to be used as a specific piece. I like to be able to use my bricks any way I want, especially as MOCs.

This set has a lot of little accessories that make it fun to play with – you get a little brick built cart with a cake, a fountain, a book that opens and can be held in a minifigure (or minidolls hand) a table that spins, and a castle.

The castle is not very big, but has lots of great angles for photos, and that’s what I like so much about it. If you have ever been to Disneyland, there are 2 different main ways to get your photo taken with a character. You can try to find them wandering around the park, which can be really difficult, or you can check their schedule and see when they will be making an appearance in their special area.

That’s what I think of this castle. Its Belle’s special area for photos. She can stand near the rose, or behind the fence, or on a special stand, and then you can stand next to her and get your photo taken. I plan on incorporating these little vignettes at the back of my LEGO Disneyland for minifigures to pose next to their favorite LEGO Disney Princess or character.

LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer: the Devastator

LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer: the Devastator
Updated September 5, 2019

This is the Devastator, the new for 2019 LEGO Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) Imperial Star Destroyer. Set number 75252. It’s over 43 inches long – That’s almost 4 feet, it’s taller than many fan’s kids! As I get more details I’ll share them here, but for now this is what has been officially released by the LEGO group.

Front view of the LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer: the Devastator
Front view of the LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer: the Devastator (26″ wide).

The websites that leak new LEGO sets are all abuzz about a new LEGO Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer. If you don’t know what UCS means in LEGO terms it’s Ultimate Collector Series. These are the really big, fancy, and expensive sets that the hard core collectors and super fans wait all year for. The last one released was the Millennium Falcon, and so the Imperial Star Destroyer would be the perfect compliment to that.

But this was an announcement for an announcement. LEGO Tweeted a 11 second video, saying more would come on November 5 2019. I’ve tried to come up with why that date is important and all I can think of is that it is the birthday of Werner Herzog who is going to be in the new Disney TV The Mandalorian.

Then a few days later on September 5th they released this video as well as some official photos:

Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Release Date

  • LEGO 75252 Announcement Date: September 5, 2019
  • LEGO 75252 VIP Release Date: Sept 18, 2019
  • LEGO 75252 General Release Date: September 1, 2019

LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Minifigures

There are only 2 minifigures included in this set: an imperial Officer and Imperial Crewmember minifigures. This is different than my original estimate of it having quite a few. Because of the cost of this set, and the limited number of minifigures, these are sure to become very collectible and expensive.

Of course the minifigures for this set haven’t been released yet, but here are some others you might be interested in. Complete your minifigure collection!

LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Price

I originally estimated this set to sell for $700, and the price was released at $699.00. It will be available to LEGO VIP members starting on Sept 18, 2019, and then everywhere on Oct 1, 2019.

LEGO 75252 Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer Review

There will be 4,784 pieces in the LEGO 75252 UCS Imperial Star Destroyer set. This is a little bit less than the 5200 that are in the UCS Milennium Falcon Set LEGO 75192.

According to the designer video it is based on the ship from the first Star wars movie, and was designed to be as accurate as possible. It is one of the first UCS models he has built to use a Technic interior framework. While the outside is mostly bley (blue grey) in color, the inside is very colorful which helps with the build.

In addition to the main ship, minifigures, and stand, there is a  scale version of the Rebels’ Tantive IV starship.
