As a parent I want to make sure my kid is playing with something cool, but isn’t too violent. This is where LEGO ninjago comes in. I know that they are not vulgar or graphic, teach good lessons, but are still interesting enough that the series and toys will keep his attention. Yes there are swords, and magic and stuff like that but overall the lessons learned from the shows are valuable. The Cole’s speeder is a set designed for younger builders, starting at age 4, and comes with 2 minifigures and 52 pieces.

LEGO 71702 Ninjago Golden Mech
I haven’t had the time to watch all the Ninjago series yet, but is this really a thing? a Golden Mech? I completely understand the idea. Mechs are everywhere, from the early Voltron, to modern Hulkbuster, everyone wants to jump in a giant Robot suit and take over (or protect) the world. The Ninjago Golden Mech has 489 pieces, and comes with 4 minifigures as we will discuss below.

The first time I saw a Tie Fighter, it had square wings. Then we got introduced to Darth Vader’s Tie Fighter, and it had wings that were angled in a little bit. Making it different, and special for the Sith Lord. This version with the Triangle wings with red edges takes the evil ships to a new level. The LEGO 75272 Star Wars Sith TIE Fighter is built using 470 pieces, and has 3 minifigures, plus some cool green shooters.

Some say this is the most epic battle in Star Wars. The lightsaber duel between Obi Wan and Anakin in the lava certainly is my favorite scene in ALL the different Star Wars movies. It’s the moment when Anakin becomes Darth Vader to me – Yeah, I know it officially happens earlier with the Emperor, but for me this is the point. The Duel on Mustafar LEGO set comes with 2 minifigures, has 208 pieces and is priced at $29.99.

Not wanting to leave any age group out, as well as to get the little kids interested in LEGO and Star Wars, TLG (The LEGO Group) is set to release 75268 Star Wars Snowspeeder for the 4+ group. This was previously known as the Juniors series, because it has mostly larger pieces, is easy to build, and has simple instructions. 91 Pieces, 2 minifigures, $19.99.

Over the years the X-wing has seen a lot of different LEGO builds. This version of the resistance X-wing fighter has movable wings (of course) and is built out of 761 parts. It comes with 4 minifigures, and even has space in the back compartment behind the cockpit for an R2 unit.

Lately I’ve been seeing more retro style sets- Not all of you are as old as I am and can remember owning some of the vintage LEGO sets. The Exclusive Fire Academy set reminds me of the old school LEGO fire sets from the 70’s and early 80’s. This one comes with 3 minifigures, a building, and a firetruck, and will only be available for sale at Legoland Parks, and Discovery Centers.

Today the LEGOnet (LEGO Internet) is all abuzz with the announcement of the latest Creator Expert Modular set – The Bookshop. With 2504 pieces and 5 minifigures – the price will be $179.00. As you can see from the images, this is actually 2 buildings built together a bookstore on one side and a little 3 story house on the other, side by side. It’s a modular so it will connect and fit in with the other LEGO modulars that have come out already.

This set appears to come with LEGOs latest version of the classic Landspeeder, as well as a Luke, C3PO, as well as Jawa minifigure with a little brick built cave. It’s based off the scene in the first Star Was Movie, A new Hope, where Luke goes with both droids actually from his house on Tattoine to Obi Wan’s Hut to learn more about himself, and his family’s fast, as well as the Force.
LEGO 75271 Release Date
The Lukes Landspeeder LEGO set is scheduled to be released early in January 2020. Based on previous releases however this set might be released on Dec 26, the day after Christmas. I base this of off previous releases in earlier years, as well as the fact that some of get a little extra money for the holidays, and LEGO wants us to spend it on them – which I always do. This is not a VIP only release as far as know. I expect this series of sets to be available at both the official LEGO store, as well as 3rd party retailers like Amazon or Target.
LEGO 75271 Pieces & Minifigures
There are 236 pieces in this set, including 3 minifigures: Luke Skywalker in a cloth cloak, C3PO, and a little Jawa. It also comes with Luke’s classic 3 engine Land Speeder, and the Jawa lives in a little brick built cave with as you guessed it more sand Tan parts. I would have liked to see another R2D2 included in this set, as he was part of the characters in the scene in the first Star Wars movie that this set is based off of.
LEGO 75271 Price
I expect this set to be priced at $29.99 US and will be on sale starting January 1, 2020.
LEGO 75271 Review
Right now as of the time of writing this blog post, this set is not yet released. When it is, I’ll buy it and write my thoughts here. I’m really looking forward to the Tusken Raider Minifigure as well as the Princess Leia Hologram.
These images are from Stonewars.de. I will replace them with my own images as soon as I get this set.
If you want to see when I open the set and build it in real time, follow me on Instagram where I frequently do live feeds and Lego Instagram Stories of new sets. This year my goal is to buy and review every single LEGO set made in 2020.
