The Corner Kiosk set has 205 pieces, but to get it for free you have to buy the Tudor Corner $229.00 (which is less than last year’s Natural History Museum). The tradition of Chinese lucky knots, or 中国结 (Zhōngguó jié), is a centuries-old art form deeply rooted in Chinese culture. These intricate knots, created by weaving a single length of cord or string into beautiful, symmetrical patterns, hold rich symbolism and are considered talismans for good fortune, prosperity, and protection. Here’s an overview of the tradition:
Historical Significance
Chinese knotting dates back thousands of years to the Tang and Song Dynasties and reached its peak during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Originally used for practical purposes like fastening and securing, the craft evolved into an artistic and cultural tradition. Lucky knots were often used in jewelry, decorations, and garments, as well as gifts to convey blessings.
Symbolism
- Good Fortune: Knots are believed to capture and hold good luck, making them powerful symbols for prosperity and success.
- Unity and Eternity: The continuous loop of a Chinese knot, without a beginning or end, symbolizes unbroken continuity, eternal love, and harmonious relationships.
- Protection: Many believe that these knots ward off evil spirits and bring peace.
Common Designs and Meanings
- Double Coin Knot: Represents wealth and abundance.
- Cloverleaf Knot: Symbolizes good luck and happiness.
- Pan Chang Knot: Represents eternity and the interconnectedness of life.
Modern Usage
Today, Chinese lucky knots are used as decorations during festivals like Chinese New Year and weddings. They’re also popular as keychains, ornaments, and gifts, maintaining their role as auspicious symbols in modern Chinese culture.
The craft of knot-making continues to be celebrated as a representation of Chinese artistry and a connection to cultural heritage.

I am wondering what is going to happen with the different polybags as LEGO makes the transition to more sustainable packaging. The plastic bag will be going away, Im sure, but what will replace it?
