Gellert Grindelwald, portrayed by Johnny Depp and later Mads Mikkelsen in the Fantastic Beasts film series, is one of the most dangerous and powerful dark wizards in the Harry Potter universe, second only to Lord Voldemort. In the Fantastic Beasts series, Grindelwald’s character is further explored as a master manipulator, seeking to recruit powerful allies to his cause, including Credence Barebone, whom he believes to be crucial to his plans. With his silver tongue, charm, and ruthless ambition, Grindelwald represents a nuanced and deeply ideological villain, one who presents a more philosophical threat to the wizarding world than Voldemort’s brute force.
